Developer Student Club
Overview
Developer Student Clubs (DSC) is a program offered by Google Developers for universities all around the globe. DSCs are university-based community groups for students. Students from all undergraduate or graduate programs with an interest in growing as a developer are welcome on this platform. By joining a DSC, students grow their knowledge in a peer-to-peer learning environment and build solutions for local businesses and their community. The intention of DSC is to solve the challenges university graduates are facing securing employment in the tech industry. Furthermore, the program provides apprenticeship opportunities to a selected group of students, one from each University to be specific.
A student of VU is leading the club. Google Developers select lead of DSC after all evaluation & interviews. The role of the student requires to transfer the knowledge acquires, from Google experts, to the peers by hosting workshops and inviting industry leaders to empower students with Mobile App Development and Web Development skills. So that students could develop applications to solve real world problems.
The Program runs under a DSC Lead. Some other teams which work under DSC lead are below:
- Core Team: Work closely with the Lead in developing and managing this program.
- Media and Creatives: Graphic Designing, Content Writing, Photography, Advertising
- Membership: Be a part of this developer community and learn to turn your thoughts to products.

Mission
Youth of Pakistan is full of potential, energy, and ideas. What they need is environments that allow them to take risks, and generate innovate and productive ideas. Therefore, the mission of DSC-VU is:
Spread the knowledge and empower the youth of Pakistan with the right tools and skills.
Objectives
Developer Student Clubs bridge the gap between Theory and Practical Application for student developers. Being said that, this was an amazing start and we hope this journey will continue & Google will continue to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Pakistan which is one of the fastest-growing ecosystems in the world. The objectives of DSC-VU are as follows:
- Create Impact. Impact students, and empower them to impact their communities through technology
- Empower the students with the technology so that they could effectively represent Virtual University of Pakistan in the field of Information Technology.
- Provide a training platform to the students of Virtual University of Pakistan so that they could learn the latest technologies.
- Organize workshops on mobile & web development to fellow students.
- Enable more students to become trainers and support them in conducting sessions
- Identify local organizations that can benefit from mobile solutions, and facilitate solution development initiatives
- Host showcases and other sessions to highlight the solutions.
